OF THE WASTELAND – MIDNIGHT VAMPIRE
YouTube / Music Video
Summary
Our objective with this project was to dive into the eerie mythology of vampires, aligning the narrative seamlessly with the haunting lyrics of the song. Our team wanted to emulate a horror film, we envisioned a tale where an individual undergoes a vampire transformation at the hands of their significant other, weaving together various elements of mysticism. To enhance the ritualistic aspect of this transformation, we chose the setting of a church for the video.
This nightmarish production unfolded over an intense three-day period. The initial day involved on-location shooting inside the church, immersing ourselves in the design of religious symbols to amplify the mystique. We further built a detailed set within our studio, replicating a bedroom adorned with references to classic horror films. The final day took us inside our film studio, capturing the band’s performance and allowing us to rig a portion of our dolly with the lead singer, creating a narrative connection.
Opting for a 4:3 aspect ratio, we aimed to evoke the essence of classic horror films from that era. Plenty of candlelight was strategically used for illumination, infusing an authentic feel into the visuals. Special effects makeup played a pivotal role, introducing vampire fangs, blood, and contact lenses to alter the actors’ eye color.
Post-production became a crucial phase, with our video editor and director crafting a narrative through the various scenes. Guided by the director’s treatment and movie storyboards, we ensured a cohesive execution that stayed true to our envisioned narrative, showcasing the depth of our production house and the expertise of our filmmaking team.
